I loved this book. The author tells his story of the gradual creep of weight gain which left him overweight, suffering from back and knee pain and inability to sleep and heart problems. He knew that he had to do something so he came up with his own unique diet which is pure simplicity. Eat good healthy food, but eat less. In his case he reduced his food intake by about 50 percent. With this diet, he lost weight at the rate of about a half pound a day. He did this until he got to a healthy weight. There are lots of great tips and insights in the book: weigh yourself every day, eat watermelon for desert (great taste and flavor and no calories) and best of all, when you are losing weight remember that hunger is a sign that you are succeeding. Hunger is your friend and a signal of your success in achieveing your goal.

When i attended cortland college i gained the freshman 15 every year for the 7 1/2 years i was there. After reading this book i am no longer called 'squelly neilly' because of my drastic weight loss. Hail men, my brother!
I just skyped my old frat brother 'fat Jeff' he told me he also read this great book written by a dude for dudes who wanna eat like a dude and still look like a dude. He said this dudes diet is so good he is no longer called fat Jeff but is now known as 'medium Jeff'. I told him due that's great, keep up he great work dude and don't get fat like that dude dorsam.
I was looking for diet encouragement for my husband who is soon to have surgery. When we asked the surgeon what he advised in way of preparing for that, he replied "Don't gain any weight." I think he wanted to add, lose a little while you're at it. But easier said than done. Until my husband read this! I found this book while searching for weight loss for men and after my husband read it he was encouraged and inspired. He appreciated the idea to think about dieting as a sports challenge, and he also appreciated the concise, easy to understand and do method the author used. And the watermelon advice! My husband feels pleasantly challenged to tackle his excess weight now and I feel relieved and grateful. Many thanks to Mark Keegan for his openness and generosity to encourage other men.
Well written and entertaining. Not a how-to book but gets you head where it needs to be to start the journey to a slimmer dude!

So simple and so helpful. I wish the author would have had a photo of him as a fatty and then thin.
Mark Keegan is a genius! After reading his book, I followed his advice, and have lost 14 lbs. Another change which has helped me in addition to Mark's advice was switching to wine rather than beer. I get some grief from the guys on poker night, but its much better in terms of calories, and they say red wine can be good for you.....if he could only write a book to better my poker game for .99 as well, I'd be all set! Thanks Mark!
